Transferring everything to a new PC

A frantic phone call this morning: a local business's old PC had finally given up the ghost, taking all their documents and customer records with it. They'd tried to turn it on, but the fan was screaming and nothing was happening. We see this a lot - people waiting until it's too late to think about transferring their important files and settings to a new machine. We managed to recover most of their data, but it was a close call. If they'd planned ahead, they could have saved themselves a lot of stress and a morning's work. We'd recommend taking a few hours to set up your new PC properly, rather than trying to rush through it. Preparation is Key Before you start transferring everything, make sure your new PC is set up and ready to go. This means installing any necessary software, updating Windows, and setting up your user accounts. It's also a good idea to make sure your new PC has enough disk space to hold all your files. We'd also recommend taking this opportunity to tidy up your files and get rid of anything you don't need. It's amazing how much clutter can build up on an old PC, and transferring all that to your new machine will just make it harder to find what you're looking for.
